Directions from the Airport

  • 1. There is only one road out of the airport which is now a dual carriageway.


  • 2. Leave airport past roundabout with stone people on it following signs to Faro.  After about 1 mile you will go over a fly-over and immediately after that you will see signs for SB Alportel (São Brás de Alportel) and Faro.  Follow signs to SB Alportel - road swings around to the right.


  • 3. Stay on this road for 3 - 4 miles and you will go through a couple of villages and traffic lights.  Road will lead you to A22 Loule & Espana but you will see a sign for S B Alportel on your right - Take this turning.


  • 4. After ¾ mile you will go under a bridge – 200 yards after bridge sign on left for Bordeira - this is a sort of a mini roundabout make sure you go round it the right way!


  • 5. After two miles will come into centre of Bordeira and look for a cross roads with a café on the right with a cream awning (Central Café).  At the cross roads turn right to Funchais and Escola (school).

  • 6. You will climb up out of Bordeira.  After approx 1 ½ miles you will see another sign for SB Alportel.  Road will enter S bend you will see two chevron signs on right.


  • 7. At the second chevron sign there are two roads/lanes on left.  First lane looks like the entrance to a quarry but is in fact a house called "Pedreira".  Second (right on the bend) is a very steep concrete road. (there is a tiled stone saying Casa Alto) 1st gear essential!  Casa Alto is last villa on left at the top.

    The trip from the airport should take approximately 20 to 30 minutes.

  • 1. There is only one road out of the airport which is now a dual carriageway.


  • 2. Leave airport past roundabout with stone people on it following signs to Faro.  After about 1 mile you will see signs for SB Alportel. (São Brás de Alportel) & Faro.  Follow signs to Faro which will leave the road you are on and bear right.


  • 3. You will find yourself on a dual carriageway, get in left lane and about ½ mile you will come to a roundabout.  You will see Algarve Forum on your left.


  • 4. As you approach the forum go ¾ way round roundabout and go to the underground carpark. Through the barrier and turn left park along here and then get to the forum up the escalator.  You will need 50c for the trolly.

  • 1. Out of drive way and turn right


  • 2. End of road turn left (by Central café with cream awning)


  • 3. End of road turn right


  • 4. End of road turn left


  • 5. After 3 - 4 miles you should see signs to the airport


    • When returning your car it is usual for the return depot to be just before the airport.  You do not usually return your car to the airport.
